Good news for cycling mobility in the Milan metropolitan area: the Metropolitan City has confirmed that Line 7 of the Biciplan Cambio will be ready by the end of 2025. This project involves the municipalities of Mediglia, Paullo, Pantigliate, Colturano, and Peschiera Borromeo, and is part of an ambitious strategic plan to develop a 750 km cycling network, designed to promote eco-friendly mobility and facilitate connections between various areas.
Marco Griguolo, councilor responsible for mobility for the Metropolitan City, reassured that the work is progressing according to schedule. The Mediglia footbridge will be completed by mid-February, and roadwork in the Peschiera Borromeo area will begin at that time. Work will also begin in the municipality of Mediglia at the end of February, with work likely to continue until the end of the summer, given the work on a significant stretch of road. Work is also planned in Paullo during the summer months, while work in Colturano is expected to begin toward the end of the year. The councilor emphasized that municipal administrations actively participated in meetings with the Metropolitan City, expressing the need to be informed at least a month before the start of work, even if it only involves the edges of the road, in order to be able to notify residents promptly. Furthermore, a site inspection will soon be conducted in Mediglia to complete the walkway, while in spring 2025, the Paullo municipal council will meet with representatives of the metropolitan city to finalize the details of the next phases of work. The Biciplan continues to take shape, with the goal of creating an integrated and safe cycling network that will promote slow mobility throughout the Milan metropolitan area.
