Safer and more sustainable infrastructures

COMING SOON 5 NEW BIKE PATHS

The activities regarding new construction sites are going at full capacity to start, at Fall, works for “Biciplan Cambio” of Metropolitan City of Milan: a colossal cycling infrastructure 750 Km long and with a total investment of € 450 millions that will embrace all 133 towns of Milan Metropolitan area. This week, from Tuesday to Thursday, the metropolitan City will meet the Mayors of the town crossed by the new 5 bike paths (lines 2, 5, 7, 12 and 15) that will be realised thanks to the € 50 millions obtained by Isimbardi Palace through urban plans in PNRR. These lines have been studied to connect schools, companies, train stations and hospitals from hinterland to Milan centre and vice versa, with the final aim to reach the others provinces of Lombardy. An infrastructure that, once completed, will bring an increase in the usage of bikes.

Marco Griguolo, councillor to mobility affirms: “I’m satisfied, we’re perfectly within the timelines. We’ve already identified the companies which will work on this new bike paths: for the line 2 we take normal procedures, instead for the lines 5, 7, 12 and 15 we went through “Invitalia”.

Now we’re at the convention with the singular towns and, after that, we can start with the construction sites. This week I’ll show the recent developments to the interested Mayors and speak with them; the common aim is that to work in the interest of our communities to realise a safe, beautiful and sustainable infrastructure that will bend with the ones already existing across the towns.

This infrastructure will bring not only less emissions and traffic, but also more road safety. I’m sure that the crushes with the cars will significantly diminish, in fact cyclist and drivers won’t use the same road, taken that all of our 24 lines will have their own road part. In addition there will be an innovative and efficient illumination system; and all the lines have been projected with the help of local administrations and interested activities, like bicycle associations, to guarantee the best safety and functional ways”.
